Halloween Carnival, age 15.

This past weekend, I had FOUR events to DJ. It was awesome. I'm SO stinkin tired, but it was ALL worth it.

This Halloween Carnival that I did on Sunday night, which is where all those videos I posted were from! I tried to feature some people from my blog, but only got Louie. Everyone else was busy!

This carnival, hosted by Grace Brethren Church of Long Beach, just had it's 15th Halloween celebration, and I was so excited that I got to be apart of it this year! I've done this event before, but this year, I feel that there were a LOT of really exciting things that happened! We had, oh, I think more that 4,000 people join us this year up in Bixby Knolls in north Long Beach, and it was definitely a grand time for everyone that came. The carnival is held in the church's back parking lot, a good 3 or 4 acres of inflatable attractions, game booths, giant NBA 2K10 screens, and of course, a giant dance party in the city!

Thanks for watching/reading! See you all soon!

Halloween Carnival Part 3!

This is the last of the posts! Thanks for watching!

Halloween Carnival Part 2!

Hey all! This is just another update on the carnival!

Halloween Special!

Okay, so today, I am DJ-ing a carnival in Bixby Knolls, which is up in North Long Beach. Stay tuned for live updates of how this event that I:m DJ-ing goes! For those of you just tuning, I will be featuring MANY of the people that I've interviewed, and they will be making guest appearances in each of these videos!

Thanks!

Mark Reinis, age 19.

Mark has been my best friend since I've been 9 years old. I really can't remember a time since then when we HAVEN'T been best friends. He currently attends Long Beach City College, and plans to hopefully attend Long Beach State in the spring.

Mark enjoys the fine arts. Simply put, he really enjoys drawing, and painting, and playing video games. I know, I know, video games aren't part of the fine arts. But hey, they are fine pieces of art! He really enjoys living life, and hanging out with chill people.

One fact that people might not know about my best friend is that he got to represent the United States on the Junior National rowing team, just a couple years ago through his rowing successes from Long Beach Junior Crew. He currently coaches there. Mark has really shown his team spirit on LBJC, for example, he got the Most Inspirational Teammate award not one, but TWO years in a row, and he went to Nationals every year.

Mark enjoys  listening to whatever is popular at the time, though he DOES favor quite a few Mumford and Sons songs. Winter Winds would probably be his favorite, followed closely by Little Lion Man and White Blank Page. He also likes Temper Trap and K'naan.  He likes to watch the Office (who doesn't?!) and he enjoys barbeque chicken. His favorite YouTube video is of a cappella legend, Bobby McFerrin, who does his own rendition of "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music musical.

Mark is pretty much like my brother. He's hangin out at my house all the time, and I at his, we're constantly battling it out on Halo: Reach, and even CoD. Those of you who know about CoD, well, you know. Mark, thanks for being my best bud.

Chanel Shuffler, age 19.

This is my first post about a friend of mine whom is under the drinking age, and let me tell you, she doesn't need to drink to have a great time! I've known Chanel Shuffler for a little over 2 years now, and I have seen her grow from a simple acquaintance to a great friend of mine. She attends Azusa Pacific University, in Azusa, as a sophomore!

When I first decided to post about Chanel, I knew that I was going to have to pick out the BEST things of all the great things to write about. I knew that she was going to be someone that would have SO many things for me to write about, so let's just start here, shall we?

One of the traits that marks Chanel is her fashion sense. From the rockin' retro caps to the ridiculously cool shoes, she has a style that defines her personality ever so well. Excited. I have seen this shine through her ever so well, one example being from the time I got to hang out with her up in Big Bear! She is also a leader in the high school ministry, just like Jessica and Louie, and she got to experience first hand what it's like to live with my sisters for a week! (sidenote: everyone thinks they're little angels; they're not!)

Aaaaaaaanyway, one line she gets from a whole bunch of people is that she looks veeeery similar to a certain hip-hop mogul, M.I.A. (see picture below) She loves to listen to jerkin' music, hip-hop, rap, and pretty much anything someone can dance to. Her favorite YouTube video is the one of the panda scratching it's back to "Teach Me How to Dougie." Hilarious. Which I think is really rad. She loves to eat marshmellows, and also loves to commute to Long Beach to see all the peeps! What is really cool is that WE (her Long Beach crew) often take trips up to Azusa to go see HER! It's awesome!

Chanel has been an amazing part of my life, and I'm stoked (I'm told I say that word a lot...) to spend even more time with her in the future! Thank you Chanel!

Kevin Jenkins, age 24.

Some people might know Kevin through his ever-expanding T-shirt company, Embrace Apparel. Some people might even know Kevin as the guy who introduced pro-body boarder Jeremy Wright to the sport. But I know this guy as a friend, a brother, and a role model for my life.

I've known this cat for about 2 years now, and one of the things that I've realized every time I hang out with him is that he makes every moment that he's around his friends count. He makes the most of his time by designing shirts for his company, and by taking on clients that need shirts, such as sports teams around Long Beach, and schools as well. He does this very well, and the continual running of his online-based company shows that he is dedicated to what he does, no matter what.

I met this guy at church, like all the other people I've written about. However, I've only gotten to REALLY know him these past couple months, and it's all been worthwhile. He lives in the same apartment as Louie, and their crazy antics make me so excited to someday live with guys like that.

Kevin isn't really a YouTube guy, but he SURE can cook! For example, today, he made Pad Thai, a Thai noodle dish, and that fed close to 15 people! It was rad, and his desire to grow in friendships is an infectious one! Kevin knows for sure that people think of him this way, but he's too humble of a guy to admit it! Kevin thanks for everything.
